The Harding’s Cambridge home has passed through many incarnations over the years, but when Rachael Solem and her partners of the Irving House discovered it in the spring of 1996, they knew it was something special. Conveniently located, the Harding House was perfect for Rachael’s vision of a sister Cambridge inn. They painstakingly renovated the house, researching to find what was original and period-appropriate, to make it the welcoming guest house it is today.
The stairs you see when you walk in originally had a mirror image as a two-family house. One staircase was kept, the other side is now a beautiful atrium with skylights. The stair railings are original to the house in most areas. Where two doors would have been at the front now stands one door taken from Harding House’s “big sister”, The Irving House.
Harding House first welcomed guests in the fall of 1997, and has been a warm ‘home away from home’ for thousands of travelers from across the globe ever since.
