2016 Taste of Cambridge Check Presentation!

After helping to produce one of the most successful Taste of Cambridge events this past July in University Park Common,  Sidney Street, and the Landsdowne Quad, the CSBA was very proud to a be a part of the presentation of checks to the beneficiary organizations. Food for Free, Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House, Young People’s Project, Institute for Health and Recovery, Paine Elder Services, On the Rise and CASPAR received a record total to support alcohol and drug education, and/or prevention and/or treatment programs.

The celebration and check presentation was graciously hosted by Andy Husbands and The Smoke Shop.

The 82nd Annual Meeting of the Central Square Business Association

The 82nd CSBA Annual Meeting was held on 3/19/2014 at the Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub.

George Metzger, CSBA President called the 82nd Annual Meeting to order and proceeded to thank our gracious hosts, Joseph and Nabil Sater.

City of Cambridge Mayor David Maher gave remarks on the progress of Central Square and the CSBA and remembered past President Carl Barron.

George then offered his memory of Carl Barron’s contribution to the CSBA and Central Square and then presented the slate for the 2014 CSBA Board. A Motion and Vote by CSBA Members was recorded.

October Central Square Cultural District Performances


What: Cambridge Teens from Hip Hop Transformation, featuring emcee DJ Hustle Simmons from 96.9
When: 10/10/13 | 5:30 – 6:30
Where: City Hall Lawn

The Hip Hop Transformation is a program that was started at the Cambridge Community Center in partnership with the Cambridge Police Department, Cambridge Health Alliance, Cambridge Arts Council, and Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program in the summer of 2013. The program teaches teens the history of hip hop culture, the role it plays in our society and their lives, and the skills needed to write, record, and perform their own original music.

This mixtape is a compilation of the work that the teens in the program completed over the summer.

What: The First Annual LIVE from Graffiti Alley Fashion Show
When: 10/17/13 | 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm
Where: Modica Way & Mass. Ave.

Featuring live drumming, local vendors selling fair trade products and a fashion show with local models wearing traditional and western style outfits made with African fabrics.

This is a first in a series of Central Square Cultural District events entitled “LIVE from Graffiti Alley!”

This event is Co-sponsored by the Central Square Cultural District, The CSBA, The Cambridge Art’s Council, Central Squared, the Daughters of Yemaya Collective and the City of Cambridge.
