Directions From Boston
Take Massachusetts Avenue in the Back Bay across the Harvard Bridge into Cambridge. As soon as you cross the bridge, Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be on your right and on your left. Continue on Massachusetts Avenue, and once you see the MIT Museum on your right and Novartis on your left, you have entered Central Square.
Or, take the Longfellow Bridge from Boston’s West End into Cambridge. Go through two traffic lights. At the fork, bear left onto Broadway. At the third light, take a left onto Prospect Street. Go through two lights,the third is the middle of Central Square. Please note that the Longfellow Bridge is currently undergoing renovations. From the West
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to the Brighton/Cambridge exit. Go across the Charles River into Cambridge, and take River Street all the way until it ends at Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square.
From the North
Take I-93 to the McGrath Highway exit. At the end of the ramp, take a left. Go through one traffic light. At the next light (Rte. 28) turn right. Go through two lights and the road will bear left as it goes over a trestle bridge. As you bear left, stay to the right and get off at the ramp right next to the gas station, where the sign says “Washington Street.” At the traffic light at the end of the ramp, turn right. The road will soon bear to the left and reach a traffic light (this is Union Square in Somerville). Take a right at the light and go to the next light. Turn left at this light and go up a small hill. Bear right at the next traffic light – this is Prospect Street. Go up Prospect through five lights into Central Square.
Via Public Transportation
Take the MBTA Red Line to the Central Square stop, or take one of the several bus routes that pass through Central Square. For more information and schedules, visit the MBTA website.
