On a recent Friday morning (Nov. 22), Cambridge Mayor Henrietta Davis and Cambridge Chief Public Health Officer Claude-Alix Jacob joined staff from the city’s Public Health Department, Community Development Department, and Inspectional Services Department for a celebratory “apple-cutting” at Pires Market, 875 Cambridge Street, and Newtowne Variety, 93 Windsor Street, to celebrate the official kickoff of the Healthy Market Program.
The Healthy Market Program works with local convenience store owners to make healthy food and drink options available. By promoting healthy options, the local markets are helping make healthy choices easier for customers in Cambridge.
Look out for healthy choices at Pires Market and Newtowne Variety, and ask your neighborhood convenience store to offer healthy food and drink options too!
